Google übernimmt Picnik
Google hat den Online-Foto-Editor Picnik übernommen, mit dem man ohne zusätzliche Software direkt im Browser Bilder bearbeiten kann.
Das Unternehmen Bitnik Inc. besteht seit 2005; im Hauptquartier in Seattle sind 20 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt. — Seit 2007 nutzt der zu Yahoo gehörende Bilderdienst Flickr die Technik von Picnik. Fraglich ist, ob das auch nach der Übernahme durch Google so bleibt.
Aus der offiziellen Ankündigung von Google:
We’re very impressed with the Picnik team and the product they’ve created, and we’re excited to welcome them to Google. We’re looking forward to collaborating closely with them to improve the online photo editing experience on the web.
In der Selbstbeschreibung auf picnik.com heißt es:
Picnik is a fast, fun, easy to use and powerful set of photo editing tools for editing, sharing and printing images using any internet browser on any computer platform. Picnik is integrated with a wide variety of websites like Picasa Web Albums, Facebook, Flickr, Yahoo! Mail and Photobucket.
